Korean

Etymology

Contracted from Early Modern Korean 졈디 아니ᄒᆞ다 (cyem-ti ani-hota), which was equivalent to the modern construction 아니하다 (jeom-ji ani-hada, literally not to be young).[1]

Pronunciation

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈt͡ɕɘ(ː)md͡ʑa̠ntʰa̠]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
