Etymology
Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἀναγνωρίζω (anagnōrízō). From the sense "admit" Semantic loan from French reconnaître.[1] Morphologically, from ανα- (ana-, “repeated”) + γνωρίζω (gnorízo, “know”).
