Usage notes[edit]

In contrast with Asiate, Asiat often refers to a South Asian, i.e., a native or inhabitant of a country in the Indian subcontinent: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan and the Maldives.
