Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian Bòšnjāk (Bosniak), from Bȍsna (Bosnia). Equivalent to Bosniac: Bosnia+-ac.

Noun[edit]

Bosniak (plural Bosniaks)

  1. A person belonging to an autochthonous South Slavic people living mainly in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sandžak region of Serbia and Montenegro.
  2. A person typically characterized by their ties to the Bosnian historical region, traditional adherence to Islam, and common culture and language.
