KVM (plural KVMs)

  1. (computer hardware) Initialism of keyboard-video-mouse: a device allowing these input and output devices to be swapped between a series of server consoles, especially in a rack configuration.
  2. (computing) Initialism of kilobyte virtual machine: a virtual machine derived from the Java virtual machine specification, written for small devices with limited memory.
  3. (computing) Initialism of kernel-based virtual machine: a virtualization infrastructure for the Linux kernel that turns it into a hypervisor.
