Borrowed from Latin myrobalanus f, from Ancient Greek μυροβάλανος (murobálanos).

- myrobalan, any of the three myrobalans and further the whole genus Terminalia and any tree of any species in it
- cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera)

The plum is hardly available or cultivated and unknown to Germans nowadays.
