Named for the Japanese neurologist Shunsuke Ohtahara (1930–2013), who identified it in 1976.

Ohtahara syndrome (usually uncountable, plural Ohtahara syndromes)
- (neurology, pathology) A progressive condition with a combination of severe epilepsy and cerebral palsy. It is characterised by severe physical and mental retardation and partial seizures.
