[edit]From *rōkaz (“care”) + *-ijaną,[1] the former from a Proto-Indo-European *h₂reh₁ǵ- (“to help”) and compared with Ancient Greek ἀρήγω (arḗgō, “to aid; to ward off”).[2][3]
