Zero hits

[edit]

@Saltmarsh this yields zero hit on Google Books, and almost nothing on Google; I'm not sure it's citable under our criteria. The standard term seems to be αμοραλιστικός (amoralistikós) instead. --Barytonesis (talk) 23:28, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Barytonesis: Hmmm — the v. few hits may well have originated from us. I don't remember where I sourced it from, the only place I could find is the Oxford en>el Learner's Dictionary (it's absent from the el>en volume), here it comes after a periphrastic form; other en-el dictionaries I've looked at have periphrastic translations. ανήθικος is common but perhaps usually means immoral. — Saltmarsh. 07:13, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Saltmarsh:. Yes, ανήθικος (aníthikos) seems to be "immoral" instead. I've tagged the word as "very rare", but I'm still not sure. @Sarri.greek? --Barytonesis (talk) 11:44, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Philosophy-academia jargon @Saltmarsh, Barytonesis:. Apparently the extroardinary lexigographer of Ox. has made glossaries for all the books he read, and he happened to read greek translations of german books e.g. Nietzsche's Zur Genealogie der Moral, or Goethe, where the translator played with the words unmoralisch (μη ηθικός, αμοραλιστής amoralist indifferent to morals). immoralisch (ανήθικος αήθηςMOD.gre el:αήθης a bad person, immoral). amoralisch (absense of any moral: he made up αμοραλικός for distinction to αμοραλιστής/αμοραλιστικός. could also be: α-ήθικος). He made up a term, making sure it is unique. I wouldn't bother, unless this writer was my prof, and i had to pass exams. I feel Ox. is overreacting:) sarri.greek (talk) 02:38, 10 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Barytonesis, Sarri.greek: I'll happily delete it if one of you can say yes or no! — Saltmarsh. 11:23, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Delete it@Saltmarsh:? Delete Oxford Dict? ά πα πα (also άπαπα). Don't we love rare extravagant words? As a user I would like: a ref on the word rare (very rare[1]), I would make Synonym: Used as a synonym term for αμοραλιστικός & I would take off the decl.table. P.S. what's this en.m.wiktionary??? sarri.greek (talk) 06:39, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Sarri.greek: I think this is the mobile version of the website: en.m(obile).wikt --Barytonesis (talk) 22:51, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
