@Atitarev, Cinemantique, Wikitiki89, Wanjuscha, KoreanQuoter Is the pronunciation with [kontǝr] correct? If so should it apply to other words in контр-? Benwing2 (talk) 02:41, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

The "р" in контр- (kontr-) is syllabic, whether you call it [ər] or [r̩]. Try listening to the forvo pronunciations of контрреволюционный, контркризис, контркультурный, контратака, контрразведка, контрразведчик, контр-адмирал, контр-страйк. Contrast this with контрабас, which is контра- (kontra-) +‎ бас (bas). The same goes for words like тигр (tigr) and корабль (korablʹ). I checked Avanesov's dictionary and he does not indicate this phenomenon in any way, except that in a few difficult cases he explicitly shows a syllable break as [ко̀нтр/а] for ко̀нтрата́ка (kòntratáka), [ко̀нтр/ы] for ко̀нтригра́ (kòntrigrá), or [ко̀нтр/рь] for ко̀нтрреволюцио́нный (kòntrrevoljuciónnyj). --WikiTiki89 15:12, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
