Jewsrael

[edit]

I suggest that Jewsrael be removed. It has no etymology or citation. I had never heard this term, and the only uses I can find on the internet are fringe, or clearly antisemitic sites. Wxidea (talk) 08:46, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Silly word, but it should pass WT:CFI as there is plenty of usage on Usenet newsgroups. Equinox 09:19, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm more familiar with Wikipedia guidelines, but shouldn't a word in Wiktionary make an appearance in major media, or anything other than fringe or antisemitic blogs? I don't think usage like this in a comment constitutes "Read Revelation 18,Jeremiah 50,Isaiah 51.America is going to burn soon,in one day Jewsrael prostitute is going to be destroy by fire(nuclear weapons)Russia and china is going to devour the bitch." http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2010/11/missile-fired-off-california-coast-on-same-day-that-chinese-sub-appeared-in-us-carrier-group/comment-page-4/ constitutes that this is a legit word. No appearances in Google ngrams: https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Jewsrael%2Cjewsrael Wxidea (talk) 09:30, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
The usage you cite is not from Usenet, though I don't expect better from Usenet.
Keep and Move to RfV. I wonder whether citations could possibly support the "humorous" label now in the entry. Using the words cracker, honky, or Polack in a joke doesn't make them humorous IMO.DCDuring TALK 12:24, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
The 2002 citation doesn't refer to a Usenet group. I see no signs of humor yet. DCDuring TALK 15:36, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Neither does the 2003 one, but there are lots of valid uses on Usenet proper. — Ungoliant (falai) 16:10, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Keep of course, nothing to discuss. It's a good faith but bad nomination. Renard Migrant (talk) 16:37, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Cited off Usenet. So, keep. Although I agree this isn't humorous. -Cloudcuckoolander (talk)
Russian has a similar slur: Евра́иль (Jevráilʹ), a blend of евре́й (jevréj, Jew) and Изра́иль (Izráilʹ, Israel). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:34, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks guys. What you did makes sense. And it also makes a little more sense to remove the "humorous" since it's clearly intended to be on the offensive side. Wxidea (talk) 18:46, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
