Isn't this tied to "gibbet" or "giblet" ?

The term has been around longer than Quake. In w:Rise of the Triad, when a large amount of guts were splattered, a message would appear saying Ludicrous Gibs!. --Vladisdead 06:15, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Is the g in gib hard or soft?

Merriam-Webster and American Heritage give it as a hard g for both the "bolt, wedge" meaning and the "castrated cat" meaning; the Oxford Concise gives it as either hard or soft for the "bolt, wedge" meaning only (it doesn't have the "castrated cat" meaning). Angr 07:15, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
