I still vaguely wonder if we should note it as meta- anyway (because that's the construction), adding that the meta- prefix in this case is in reference to metaphysics. It's a bit weird to call it a blend when the word-coiner must have recognised meta- as a prefix and picked it off the physical bit, rather than haphazardly mashing up the two words.
