pitää huolta

I think that is just like pitää huolta omista asioistaan. That is "to mind one's own business", but that doesn't mean pitää huolta can mean "to mind", similar to how repiä pelihousunsa (“to lose one's rag”) doesn't mean repiä can be translated as "to lose". — SURJECTION ^{/ T / C / L /} 10:50, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

I don't think all redundancy is bad. Lets's compare to the treatment of the similar English phrase. Under mind we have this definition:

7. (now rare except in phrases) To pay attention to, in the sense of occupying one's mind with, to heed. [from 15th c.]

You should mind your own business.

And then, of course, there's the article mind one's own business.

If anything, I might challenge the idiomaticity of pitää huolta omista asioistaan (also my creation). Instead of pitää huolta one might use the verbs huolehtia and hoitaa, maybe others. --Hekaheka (talk) 19:52, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Redundancy is bad when it gives the wrong information. I cannot translate "do you mind if I take one" as "*pidätkö huolta jos otan yhden". I don't think there is any case where "pitää huolta" can be translated as "to mind" outside of this one expression, so we should document it under the expression, not as a sense "to mind", since that is simply wrong. — SURJECTION ^{/ T / C / L /} 17:54, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
