Searching for "rhinodons" only returns fictional sharks. Alternately "Rhinodon" is an (obsolete?) genus name. DTLHS (talk) 01:42, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Capitalized it also occurs as a synonym (misspelling?) of the genus name Rhincodon.  --Lambiam 11:22, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Looking for etyma I only find ῥίνη (rhínē), which has, as a secondary meaning, a kind of shark with a raspy skin, perhaps the eponym of the genus Rhina, although others derive it from the root of ῥίς (rhís, nose) also seen in rhinoceros.
According to this source, Rhincodon probably originated from a printer’s mistaken reading of Rhineodon.  --Lambiam 08:36, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Etyfish is a good source, one to be mined. See taxa entries Rhinodon and Rhincodon. DCDuring (talk) 10:33, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
