Regarding its sense about card games, it may be a sum of parts. HeliosX (talk) 16:07, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

According to the Italian Wiktionary, just picche! can be used as an interjection with the meaning “absolutely not!”.  --Lambiam 23:10, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

I can’t think of a plausible relation with card play. Perhaps the sense of refusal comes from the gesture you see in this clip from Amadeus at 1:38–1:39, when the guards cross their pikes to refuse entrance to Mozart.  --Lambiam 23:27, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
