Documentation for Template:de-noun. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This is the template to use for all German nouns. This template automatically adds pages to Category:German nouns. It is implemented by Module:de-headword.

This template contains the necessary meta-data to allow users who are using accelerated editing to create any grammatical forms semi-automatically.

Usage

[edit]

Use it directly under the "part of speech" header (e.g. for Baum):

Parameters

[edit]

This template can take various parameters, both numbered and named. See m:Help:Template for help with templates and parameters in general.

|1=
Specifies the gender, genitive and plural forms. The format is identical to {{de-ndecl}}; see there, and examples below.
|dim=
Specifies the diminutive form(s) of the noun. The format is as for the genitive singular and the plural specs in |1=, except that a final -e is removed from the lemma before adding any endings. If left empty, no diminutive is displayed.
|f=, |m=
Specifies the equivalent noun of the other gender, for words which differ depending on the natural gender of the referent. These are used especially with nouns denoting professions. The format is as for the genitive singular and the plural specs in |1=, except that a final -e is removed from the lemma before adding any endings. Use + to request the default (which works particularly well for adjectivally-declined nouns like Erziehungsberechtigter, automatically generating the correct feminine Erziehungsberechtigte).
|n=
Specifies the neuter equivalent, for adjectivally-declined nouns with neuter equivalents referring to children of unspecified sex (compare Frühgeborenes (premature baby)).
|sg=
Specifies the singular equivalent, for plural-only (plurale tantum) nouns with occasional singular forms.
|nolinkhead=1
Don't autolink individual words in multiword expressions.
|splithyph=1
Autolink individual parts of hyphenated words when a space is also present (this happens automatically if no space is present).
|head=, |head2=, ...
Explicitly specify the head(s). Only needed in multiword expressions when the default autolinking doesn't work right, and even then rarely needed; prefer the angle-bracket syntax with explicit links in |1=. Occasionally this is useful in multiword expressions where it is preferable to treat the expression as a unit for declensional purposes; see {{de-proper noun}} for an example.
