Edit-copy green.svg Documentation for Template:descendant. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template generates an unlinked language name, colon, and link, as required for Descendants sections. It uses the descendant function in Module:etymology/templates.

Parameters[edit]

This template takes the same parameters as {{link}} ({{l}}) and {{term}} ({{m}}). See the documentation of those templates for details.

There are these additional parameters:

|bor=1
Adds an arrow (→) before the language name.
|clq=1
Adds an arrow (→) before the language name, and adds (calque) after the term.
|der=1
Adds an arrow (⇒) before the language name. Use this when the term derives by the addition of a morpheme (affix) or by analogical levelling, rather than by regular sound change.
|sl=1
Adds an arrow (→) before the language name, and adds (semantic loan) after the term.
|alts=1
Adds alternative forms after the term taken from {{alter}} on the page of the term.
|sclb=1
Replaces the language name in the label with the script name, either detected from |1=, or set in |sc=.
