Clever bit of code if you want it[edit]

For the part of speech switch, is it possible to use =s and anything that isn't in the switch will categorize as {{{2}}}s, such as {{ja-pos|r|adverb form}} would categorize in Category:Japanese adverb forms. It has to come last or else it will bypass the other elements of the switch. Mglovesfun (talk) 15:43, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions and move request[edit]

Move request: ja-head would have been a better name which is consistent with {{head}} and l/xx templates. I mean ja-head would imply that this template imitates {{head}} except that now the language code fixed (as l/xx templates do).

Also, the part of speech parameter should only expect "proper noun". I am sure this will remove one if statement making it a little faster. Also, it should not complain by being passed "verb" as a parameter. --Dixtosa (talk) 08:43, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary romanized capitalizations for proper nouns[edit]

@Dine2016, Huhu9001, Suzukaze-c, the {{ja-pos}} recently added redlinks relating to the 2= and rom= parameters.

For example, 太政官 had only the romanized links Daijō-kan and Ōimatsurigoto no Tsukasa, now new redlinks such as Daijō-Kan, Ōimatsurigoto No Tsukasa, Ōimatsurigotonotsukasa, etc. appeared out of nowhere. Any fixes? ~ POKéTalker22:02, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Poketalker: How is it now? -- Huhu9001 (talk) 06:01, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Huhu9001: looks good, thanks! There's still one more problem though: かな (ka na) in Etymologies 1 and 2 have the 2= parameter as か な (with a space between them) instead of かな as in the displaytitle, while the rom= end up to be both kana and ka na. Is this intentional? ~ POKéTalker19:20, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. If you don't want it, use |head=か な or |rom=ka na. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 03:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did you remove automatic capitalization for |proper altogether? For example, 大島 is showing a redlinked romanization of ōshima, which would work if it was correctly capitalized as Ōshima. 98.110.34.140 03:45, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
