First conjugation[edit]

The first conjugation contains paroxytone verbs with active forms like δηλώνω (dilóno) and δένω (déno), (oxytone verbs, with a final -ώ or -άω, form the second conjugation). Most in this conjugation have non-past stems, the past form of which is formed by "left-shifting" the stress or adding an augment:
