• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
• Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.

Links to nowhere

Please check to make sure that the pages you're linking to with the templates actually exist before you add the templates. I usually click Show preview, then right-click or command-click to open the link in a new tab. If I get "there is no text on this page" message, I remove the template. Only after I've checked all the links do I click "Publish changes" to save my edit. There's no excuse for spamming the dictionary with bad links. Chuck Entz (talk) 03:29, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

One of the dozens of edits I reverted (here) had {{Wikipedia|lang=fro}}, linking to a nonexistent Old French Wikipedia. That tells me a completely mechanical substitution process was being used: take the language code for the section and plug it into whichever of the three templates aren't already there. Another telling example is French phraséologie: No one would be dumb enough to expect there to be media at Commons related to it, so I can only assume that it was taken from a list of translations for words ending in -ology without any effort to weed out ringers like this one. The fact that there have been as many as 5 of these edits in one minute would seem to indicate that we have either a cut-and-paste assembly-line method or a bot/script being used to crank these out blindly at high speed.
