• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
• A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.

Preposition

I think many of the entries you're making are not prepositions. Prepositions are 介詞, which typically take an object to form a prepositional phrase, like 在, 向, 從. Most of the terms you are calling prepositions are probably adverbs or nouns. Could you go back and check? — justin(r)leung _{{ (t...) | c=› }} 07:08, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Wu Chinese

Yes, we have occasional discussions on the English Wikt Discord. Right now I think the main hurdle is just how we should present the tones (since Wugniu doesn’t actually have a recommended tone display with sandhi, currently settling on basically what we already have but with the number in front for heads and at the back for all subsequent syllables when other lects are introduced). I might want to just directly ask some major SH editors how they want to see the tones written, but other than that, it should all be approved already maybe idk — 義順 (talk) 20:43, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Entry Request

Hi! I understand you're proficient in Wu? I was wondering if you could create the entry for 買汏燒／买汏烧 (or 買汰燒／买汰烧). I'm not sure if the pronunciation would be "6ma da sau". Also, I hear it in this series episode (at 0:34 here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrp61XsjrZI) as mǎitàishāo, so I guess it's also used in Mandarin. I'm not sure how to put the definition though. 豆芽菜

You can't just leave this with a module error. You need to fix either the entry or the module. I edited the module to get thy error message to point to the correct page where the Wu notation is discussed, but I can't fix anything myself. Chuck Entz (talk) 19:55, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Maps for dialectal data

I'd like to create and add maps based on dialectal data. Where should they go on the page? Example:

Hi there, we currently handle crosslinguistic pronunciations in the pronunciation module (see the "Dialectal data" section in 營) and crosslinguistic synonyms in Module:zh-dial-syn. If you would like to add such pages, you can check the Chinese module and template pages and perhaps consider adding some entries. Please do not upload these images in place of the current modules.
