• Entry layout explained (ELE) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
• A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
• If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.

wielmożna

Hi Profesjonalizm! I've been appreciating all the work you've doing to add Polish vocabulary. As you seem to be the most active Pole around right now, I thought I'd ask you about a word I've been confused with. It seems to mean "well-born", apparently, but is this used as a noun to refer to nobles? It seems to be followed most commonly by pani, so is this the feminine form? I know rather little about Polish, but some of the Yiddish words I'm adding come from Polish. Dziękuję! —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 01:01, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@Metaknowledge: hey; wielmożna is a really dated word, a feminine form of adjective wielmożny. it used to mean that someone's a member of the upper class (not necessarily born into it), but today it is used only as a courtesy title (wielmożny pan, wielmożna pani), albeit very rarely. i've never seen it used yet, but the noun wielmożność exists - although this would probably translate as the quality of being wielmożny (or a super-formal style like your highness - wasza wielmożność - but then again, this will work in singular only), not nobility as a whole. as for etymology - i can only guess, and i'm not good at it - i'd split it in two: wiel- from wiele (a lot) and -możny from móc (able to do something); profesjonalizm • talk 12:12, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Ah, thank you very much. It adds to the confusion that Yiddish speakers in Poland don't seem to have been especially good at Polish. Also, is there a jaszna or similar that one could put before panie? —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 16:19, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@Metaknowledge: you're probably talking about jaśnie - jaśnie pan in masculine and jaśnie pani in feminine, no declension whatsoever profesjonalizm • talk 00:58, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
