Welcome!
[edit]Welcome
[edit]Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:45, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
Translation request
[edit]Hi. Could you please translate this passage for me from en->th?
"Hi. I am an 18-year-old bisexual girl looking for a sweet, older girl to talk to. I do not speak Thai, but I'd like to learn the language. I am from the United States." Philmonte101 (talk) 20:41, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Philmonte101
- Here are the translations:
- (colloquial tone) "ดีจ้ะ เราเป็นสาวอายุ 18 เป็นไบ อยากได้สาวน่ารัก ๆ อายุมากกว่า มาเป็นเพื่อนคุย เราพูดไทยไม่ได้ แต่อยากเรียนภาษาไทยนะ เราอยู่เมกาจ้ะ"
- (a bit more formal) "สวัสดีจ้ะ เราเป็นสาวอายุ 18 เป็นไบเซ็กชวล อยากได้สาวน่ารัก ๆ อายุมากกว่า มาเป็นเพื่อนคุย เราพูดไทยไม่ได้ แต่อยากเรียกภาษาไทยนะ เราอยู่อเมริกาจ้ะ"
- (formal) "สวัสดีค่ะ ดิฉันเป็นผู้หญิง อายุ 18 ปี และรักร่วมสองเพศ ดิฉันกำลังมองหาหญิงสาวที่น่ารักและอายุมากกว่ามาเป็นเพื่อนคุย ดิฉันพูดภาษาไทยไม่ได้ แต่ก็อยากเรียนรู้ภาษาไทย ดิฉันมาจากสหรัฐอเมริกาค่ะ"
- Usage alerts:
- The first and second translations sound friendlier and livelier than the third one, which is formal and can make you look/sound somewhat stern or serious.
- The third translation also contains certain technical terms which general listeners might find peculiar (though comprehensible).
ช้าง#Adjetive header and template
[edit]It appears to have a typo in the header and I was going to change it to "Adjective" but then I noticed that it's using the {{th-noun}}
template. Should it be using the {{th-adj}}
template instead? I'm not familiar with the Thai language at all and didn't feel comfortable changing it myself. --RandomPalo (talk) 23:00, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- Looks like someone else fixed it. Sorry for bothering you. --RandomPalo (talk) 08:25, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
Hi, why did you remove the quote from ครอง (krɔɔng)? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 11:40, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- The quotes were excessively and unnecessarily long, and some of them were unsourced. It seems like back then I intended to replace them with shorter quotes, but I didn't. --YURi (talk) 10:06, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
- I would appreciate it if you could add at least one replacement. I agree about the excessive length.
