Etymology[edit]
From Sanskrit अभय (abhaya, “fearlessness”) + मुद्रा (mudrā, “sign, hand gesture”).
abhayamudra (plural abhayamudras)
- A Buddhist gesture of reassurance and safety, in which the right hand is held upright, and the palm is facing outwards.
