Prefix[edit]

agyon-

  1. (verbal prefix) It has two different but related meanings:
    1. When it is attached to verbs indicating strong physical effects, it means to kill something or someone using physical force.
      üt ‎(to hit) → agyonüt ‎(to strike dead)
    2. When it is attached to verbs expressing several kinds of activities, it indicates exaggeration, to do something to excess, beyond measure.
      un ‎(to be bored of) → Agyonunta magát. - He was bored to death.
      dicsér ‎(to praise) → agyondicsér ‎(to praise to the skies)
