Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Turkic *būta- (“branch; nail”), whence also budamaq (“to cut branches”). Cognate with Turkish budak, Turkmen pudak, Bashkir ботаҡ (botaq), Chuvash пӑта (păt̬a, “nail”), etc.
