Etymology[edit]

It is a reference to the colour of the beret of the other particular regiment, not being maroon, thus being a crap hat(not "alley").

  1. (slang, derogatory, UK) Members of non-elite regiments, those that aren't in the British army's parachute regiment and/or the SAS.
