From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German ant-, from Proto-Germanic *andi-, *anþi-, representative of a combining form of "and". Cognate with Middle Dutch ont- (Dutch ont-), Old English and-, ond- (English un-), Old Norse and- (Swedish an-), Gothic 𐌰𐌽𐌳- (and-), Danish und-.
