Etymology[edit]

From Old Spanish esleer[1], from Vulgar Latin *exlegere, from Latin ēligere, present active infinitive of ēligō. Compare French élire, Italian scegliere. Doublet of elegir, which was borrowed.

Conjugation[edit]
