English

Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] French grande (grand, great) + wormwood.

Noun

grande wormwood (uncountable)

  1. The herb wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), which is used in the production of absinthe and vermouth, and as a tonic.

Usage notes

The French spelling grande, with an “e,” is used to preserve the distinction with petite wormwood (French petite, feminine of petit, small).
