Etymology

From Proto-Mon-Khmer *hən ~ *həən (to grow, to increase); cognate with Arem hɨən ("more than; to defeat, to win against"), Pacoh hon (grown), Bahnar hon (to grow), Plang [La Gang] hɔ́n, and Khasi byrhien ((people) in large numbers)).
