From Proto-Albanian *skeidma, from Proto-Indo-European *skeid-men-. Cognate to Gothic 𐍃𐌺𐌰𐌹𐌳𐌰𐌽 (skaidan, “to divide”), Lithuanian skiemuo (“opening used to insert the shuttle”).[1]
