Etymology 1

From earlier ibayiw, from i- (location marker) +‎ *bayiw, from elision of /l/ from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *baliw (return), from Proto-Austronesian *baliw (return). Compare Central Bikol balyo, Aklanon baylo, and Hiligaynon baylo. Doublet of baliw.
