Etymology[edit]

Via other European languages, ultimately borrowed from Ancient Greek καλλιγράφος (kalligráphos, calligrapher), from κάλλος (kállos, beauty) and γράφω (gráphō, to draw), made into a first-declension masculine noun (ending -s).
