Etymology
[edit]From Middle Dutch cassiede, cautsiede, calsijde and other variants (predominantly used in Flanders and the Southern regions of the Netherlands), all meaning “paved road”, from Vulgar Latin (via) calciāta (“paved road”).

[edit]The word kassei is more common in Flanders. In the Netherlands, kinderkopje is more common instead, though kassei is also widely used there.
