From Proto-Albanian *laurā, from Proto-Indo-European *leu, etymologically identical with Lithuanian laure(dirty person)[1].

Etymology 2[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *laurā, a rebuilt form after the stem in -eh₂, from Proto-Indo-European *leh₁u-(stone). Cognate to Ancient Greek (Hom.) λᾶας(lâas, stone) and Old Irish líe(stone) and perhaps Old Armenian լեառն(leaṙn)[2].
