From Proto-Fula-Serer *luɁ, whence also Serer lukuƴ (“a budding horn”). Cognate with Nalu luk (“horn”), Badyara pə-dikɛ, Biafada bu-dəgga, Sherbro lɪk, Southern Kissi lèèyó, Mmani lék.[1]
