From Italian marzacotto, from Arabic مَسْحَقُونِيَّا (masḥaqūniyyā), from Classical Syriac ܡܫܚ ܩܘܢܝܐ (m(ə)šaḥ qūnyāʾ, “ointment of sosa”).
