Etymology

For its composition, Ancient Greek μόλυβδος (mólubdos, “lead”) and crystal habit φύλλον (phúllon, “leaf”), +‎ -ite. Note that the prefix molybdo- +‎ here does NOT denote molybdenum; the element is named after the same Greek root.
