Etymology

For its composition, Ancient Greek μόλυβδος (mólubdos, lead) and crystal habit φύλλον (phúllon, leaf), +‎ -ite. Note that the prefix molybdo- +‎ here does NOT denote molybdenum; the element is named after the same Greek root.
