official at-bat (plural official at-bats)

  1. (baseball) A completed batting opportunity that did not result in a base on balls, hit-by-pitch, sacrifice fly, sacrifice bunt, or interference or obstruction.
    A player's batting average is his hits divided by his official at-bats.
