Dutch[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Compound of pantoffel (“house slipper”) + parade (“parade”). This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term. Presumably it's ironic, but why exactly "pantoffel"?
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
pantoffelparade f (plural pantoffelparades)
- (historical) A large number of ambling flaneurs, congregating at certain times (esp. on Sunday morning or afternoon) to show off their sense of fashion.
