Etymology[edit]
A formation in -shtë > *-est, from posh, from Proto-Indo-European *pṓds. Compare Hittite [script needed] (pata), Ancient Greek πούς, ποδός (poús, podós), Old English fōt (“foot”). Alternatively from Latin post, poste (“behind, back”) with a radical change of meaning corresponding to other similar shifts.[1]
