Albanian

Etymology

Possibly a prefixed formation of an earlier *hyll, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *skūla, close to Ancient Greek (Attic) ὕλη (húlē, forest, grove) and Thracian sula (grove) (cf. shul). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) Alternatively from an earlier *pëýll, *pëdyll, from Latin palūs. Compare Romanian pădure with the same sense development.[1]
