quarter-bloke (plural quarter-blokes)

  1. (Britain military slang, now rare) A quartermaster, or quartermaster sergeant.
    • 1929, Frederic Manning, The Middle Parts of Fortune, Vintage 2014, p. 128:
      ‘A private is ordered to complete some deficiency in his kit, and he goes to the quarter-bloke for it and gets nothing but abuse for his trouble.’
