A diminutive ( +‎ -ie) formed from Middle English rak, rack, rakke (parrel), from Old English racca (parrel), from Proto-West Germanic *rakkō, from Proto-Germanic *rakkô (rope, cord), from Proto-Indo-European *reǵ- (to tie, bind). Cognate with dialectal Norwegian rakke (parrel).
