Inherited from Malay رانچڠ (rancang, peg; to plan, to prepare), from Javanese ꦫꦚ꧀ꦕꦁ (rancang, to set up, to assemble; to design; to draw; to estimate), from Old Javanese rañcaṅ (frame (bodywork)), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *rcaŋ (to prick, to pierce, to insert; rack, framework).[1]
