French

Etymology

From re- +‎ saisir.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ʁə.sɛ.ziʁ/ ~ /ʁə.se.ziʁ/

Verb

ressaisir

  1. (transitive) To regain or recover (that which was lost)
  2. (takes a reflexive pronoun, reflexive) To pull oneself together, to get back on one's feet, to pick oneself up off the floor

Conjugation

This is a regular verb of the second conjugation, like finir, choisir, and most other verbs with infinitives ending in -ir. One salient feature of this conjugation is the repeated appearance of the infix -iss-.
