rodó

Etymology
From Latin rotundus; first attested 1490[1], and probably reformed in a semi-learned fashion from the now dialectal variant form redó, itself inherited from a Vulgar Latin form retundus, which left descendants in most other Romance languages (compare Occitan redond, Spanish redondo, Old French reont). Compare also the doublet rotund, a later borrowing.
