[edit]Related to Karelian räme and Veps rämik. Possibly derived from an onomatopoeic stem, same as that of the verb rämistä; räm- + -e.[1]

- A boreal swamp type characterized by sparse growth of pine, a thick layer of sphagnum on the ground and dense growth of woody shrubs; a pine mire.
- Any forested swampland in other climate zones.
